A possible new weight-loss drug made by scientists could help people reduce weight and maintain them off, researchers say.

From the study, obese mice cured with the drug ate less, dropped a few pounds and experienced improved metabolic health, for example reduced insulin resistance, compared to obese mice not considering the drug.

The drug seems to work by boosting the body's sensitivity to leptin, a hormone that suppresses appetite. It's believed obese people become desensitized to leptin, meaning their own bodies will not answer it.
